Dr. Alan Levinovitz enters the mind meld!

Alan is an Associate Professor of Religion at James Madison University and is the author of Natural: How Faith in Nature’s Goodness Leads to Harmful Fads. He works at the intersection of philosophy, religion, and science, focusing especially on how narratives and metaphors shape belief.

In this one, we rap about the beauty of optimistic agnosticism, why it’s possible to be a religious agnostic, mystical experiences, holy gratitude, and why calling things ‘natural’ can be hugely problematic.

I’ve been very fortunate to host a solid troupe of big-brained, nuance-wielding, wonder-mancers on the show as of late— Charles Eisenstein, Zak Stein, and John Vervake, to name a few. We’ve got another of their beautiful ilk in this mind meld, Dr. Alan Levinovitz. He’s an author and an Associate Professor of Religion at James Madison University.

This one is different though, in fact, it might sincerely be my favorite of the aforementioned bunch. As you’ll see, we meander into some really novel territory that truly felt like a hand-in-hand skip through the boundless wonder of the mysterium tremendum

Alan’s interest is at the intersection of philosophy, religion, and science, focusing especially on how narratives and metaphors shape belief. he’s also done a lot of work around Daoism. His latest book is Natural: How Faith in Nature’s Goodness Leads to Harmful Fads. For more on Alan, hop through here.
